A Center for the Retrieval of Christian Wisdom

Does Not Wisdom Call?

Hear Instruction. Be Wise. Find Life.

Covid-19 Update:

We ARE planning to run the Protestant Wisdom Foundations Program from July 27-August 7!
Are you tired of talking to people through a screen? Hungry for rich conversation? Looking for space to reflect critically on what it means to be a Christian disciple during these confusing times?
See the course page for more details and registration deadlines.

Due to COVID-19 and related measures to limit the spread, all of our May and June events including Sojourn, the Philosophy Capstone Course, Davenant Discussions, the National Convivium and the Latin Intensive have been cancelled.

A place to grow.

Renewing the church and its witness

Davenant House is not just a place to learn the right answers or the right ideas. It’s a place for reflection, for questioning, for conversation, for prayer – a place to connect with God, neighbor, and nature, and be renewed for a life of faithful witness and service.

What is the Davenant House?

The Davenant House is a retreat study center located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in upstate South Carolina. Surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation and complete with large wrap-around porches and hiking trails that enable one to enjoy it, the Davenant House provides an ideal location for quiet study, reflection, and contemplation of Christian wisdom, God’s Word, and his works. Add in a nice library of books, good food, and a beautiful facility and all that remains is to fill it with people hungry to go deeper and fellowship together – people like you!

Upcoming Events

Due to COVID-19 and related measures to limit the spread, all of our May and June events including Sojourn, the Philosophy Capstone Course, Davenant Discussions, the National Convivium and the Latin Intensive have been cancelled. We do hope to reschedule some of these at a later date and will resume Davenant Discussions as we are able to do so.

A place to ask hard questions.

To recover the lost art of conversation – of  hashing out important differences respectfully, yet earnestly. To grow closer to God and grow in understanding of His Word through worship, study, and conversation with other believers. To wrestle with what it means to be a disciple of Christ today.
