– Mark Twain
Such is the life of enstoried and funny creatures that we are, made in God’s image and caught up in the great narrative of His redemptive history. But far from simple entertainment, examining the lives of great persons throughout history is incredibly instructive to us.
The Apostle Paul commends biography in a sense when he declares “imitate me as I imitate Christ.” Imitation is such a key aspect of discipleship, as Christ also makes clear when He says that He only does what He sees His Father doing and he calls the disciples to do likewise. Biography helps us remember and inspires change in us to imitate or avoid imitation of people. We do well to examine the lives of great persons, especially Christ followers, retrieving their stories and learning from them.
This Convivium is sure to be instructive and entertaining both at once. There will be great fellowship and excellent food – both physically and food for thought.
We look forward to you joining us, it’s something you won’t want to miss!
